Erika Di Benedetto joined OCCRP (Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project) in 2023, starting as a daily news intern and now serving as photo editor and a core editor team member. Based in Brussels, Erika has a diverse background in visual and investigative journalism. Before her tenure at OCCRP, she worked as a freelance photographer, videographer, graphic designer, and investigative journalist. She enhanced visual editing at Politico Europe as a visual producer, specializing in data visualizations.

With 15 years of experience, Erika has collaborated with various organizations, including Amnesty International. She holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, a master’s degree in photography from the University of Art and Design of Budapest (MOME), and a master’s degree in investigative journalism from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Her dissertation involved a cross-border investigation into the risks of human trafficking for Ukrainian refugees during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Additionally, she contributed to the award-winning “Ericsson List” investigation. Erika speaks Italian, English, Spanish, some Swedish, and is currently learning French.
