Poet, Writer and Filmmaker

Fatemeh Ekhtesari is an Iranian poet, writer, and independent filmmaker based in Norway. She has published ten books across poetry, short fiction, and cross-genre literature. Her work has been translated into several languages, including Norwegian, English, German, and Italian, and some of her poems have been adapted into musical compositions.

She was imprisoned in Iran in 2013 and sentenced in 2015 to 11.5 years in prison and 99 lashes, after which she fled the country. Since 2017, she has lived in Norway with the support of ICORN (International Cities of Refuge Network), where she continues her literary work and participates in international literary festivals
