Zara Chowdhary is author of The Lucky Ones - a memoir, published in 2024 and winner of the Shakti Bhatt Prize (2025), the Mumbai Lit Live! award (2025), and a finalist for the PEN America nonfiction prize (2024). The Lucky Ones was one of Time Magazine's top ten nonfiction books of the year, and featured in the Washington Post, Esquire, People Magazine, NPR, Electric Literature etc.

Her essays, poems and fiction have previously appeared or are forthcoming with Seventh Wave, Acacia, Flyway, Cotton Xenomorph, amongst others. She currently serves as a Professor of Creative Writing and South Asian Studies at the University of Iowa.
